Be near me when my light is low,
When the blood creeps, and the nerves prick
And tingle; and the heart is sick,
And all the wheels of Being slow.

Be near me when the sensuous frame
Is rack’d with pangs that conquer trust;
And Time, a maniac scattering dust,
And Life, a Fury slinging flame.
Be near me when my faith is dry,
And men the flies of latter spring,
That lay their eggs, and sting and sing
And weave their petty cells and die.

Be near me when I fade away,
To point the term of human strife,
And on the low dark verge of life
The twilight of eternal day.

-Alfred Tennyson

Hey Evan - Just wanted to let you know that we're all still praying for you and papa and following your progress and it's great to see you smile more and more - you have a great smile, by the way, just like your mum. Even Fr. Keane mentioned her smile in his homily.

I also notice that you like a certain sleeping position in which you look like Michael Flatley from Lord of the Dance (the one with one arm extended over your head and the other bent at the elbow pointing in the same direction)...anyway, just an observation.

Keep well, and keep papa busy!

    God Bless.

Michael Flatley? Well, my sis did ballet when she was young but I'm sure she enjoyed basketball a whole lot more. Maybe the arm extended over the head is more in the style of Kareem's Sky Hook? Hopefully, with the right influence, Evan will favour soccer.

    B-)

Dear Evan - please excuse me while I use your board to talk to your uncle...

I used to watch the IJ team at games and know most of the them, which is in fact how I got to know Fudge (although I used to call her "Bucky" in college) and perhaps you're right about Kareem's sky hook...

I also attended at least one (it's been a while, so maybe more) house party at Third Avenue, and Fudge was quite the dancer as well, so maybe Michael Flatley is not too far of a stretch.

That said, I kinda' hope Evan becomes a great rugby player...I never figured out why you'd kick a ball around when you could pick it up and run with it ;)...Evan is certainly showing the strength of character and the physical determination to be a good rugby player, so who knows.

But alas, he will probably not have the necessary influence, unless he goes to a "rugby school". I guess I'll have to keep following his blog to see how it all turns out!

    Cheers!
