Day 8 (morning): This morning's visit saw Nurse Joanne on duty. She has also been very kind and loving towards Evan, giving him frequent massages and talking to him as much as she can. The little one's breathing has been more stable overnight, with no oxygen supplements required.
His milk feeds through the gastric tube have also been steadily increasing. They have raised the volume to 35ml today. They have also started training him to suck from the teat of the milk bottle. He will have to slowly learn how to suck milk and breath at the same time without choking or sucking it into his lungs.
He continues to be on the quiet side, and has not had a hearty cry yet. Although Nurse Joanne says that he did make a singular crying sound, the first she has heard herself from him, during feeding time.

Not to be picky uncle Colin, but isn't this Evan's Blog? You've distinctly moved away from the first person account into a 3rd person narrative... =p
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that he's doing much better now... He'll be in the family choir's prayers as we go church visiting tonight...
Lotsa love,
hey baby Evan,
ReplyDeletehere's a psalm that i read today and i thought of you and your daddy as i read it. its a popular psalm but here it goes
" The Lord is my shephard, i shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quite waters, he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Even though i walk throguh the vally of the shadow of death, i will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever. "
hope this psalm helps to comfort you and daddy for Jesus loves both of you SO SO MUCH!
Hello! Evan, how are you today? Thank God for such a nice & loving nurse attending to you. So did you enjoy talking to her? Hee..hee.. Ok. Aunty Pat know that you are a good boy that you have drank more milk today. Though Aunty Pat is working now but I misses you so much that I quickly go in yr blog to talk to you but don't worry as my dentist is not working today. So have you learn to suck your milk from your milk bottle? I believe you can difinately make it without any problem in your breathing or sucking it into your lungs!!
ReplyDeleteWe'll soon & very soon hear your cry & everybody will be cheering & praying for you. Keep it up! My dear child!!
Evan, Aunty Pat wrote a song to encourage you & I did share with your daddy too. Pray that you will be encourage by the words.
Title: My Precious Child
Melody: You Are The Lord That Healeth Me
'You are My child, My precious child, I know how much you have gone thru. Come close to Me & no one will hurt you 'cause I am your Father.
Daddy, thank you for loving me. Thanks for surrounding me with Your loving Arms, You pick me up when each time I fall down, You dry my tears & You hug me'.
Evan, hope you will like this song. :>
Dai Lou,
As I read your updates, I really thank God for the miracle He has done in Evan's life. Though he's still on the quiet side but don't worry 'cause he'll soon cry out loud for everyone to hear. Thank God for giving both you & Frances such a good & intelligent son!
Take-Care & Always Love In Christ's Name!!
A "singular crying sound" is like the all important first step of a journey of a thousand miles - keep it up, Evan!
ReplyDeleteI have distinct memories of your dad saying (on many occasions) how someone should invent a bubble to insulate adults from babies cries. How God makes us all eat our words ;-). I know its just round the corner now, when you start bawling at the top of your voice, it will be such sweet music to your papa's ears.
